The CRL B5L Series Custom Low Profile Square Aluminum Mill Base Shoe is used as the base channel for glass railing systems. It can be clad in several choices of architectural finishes. The Low Profile Square Aluminum Base Shoe is for use with the Wet Glaze System only. The most critical component in a railing system is the proper attachment of the Base Shoe to the substrate. CRL has engineered a variety of attachment methods, and has developed an acceptable combination of drilling patterns and fasteners.

GLASS SPECIFICATIONS:
1/2" (12 mm) to 5/8" (16 mm) Thick Glass when using the Wet Glaze System.
Low Profile Square Base Shoe cannot be used for the TAPER-LOC® Dry Glaze System.

SHIPPING NOTE: Due to the difficulty in packaging and handling 20' (6.1 m) stock lengths, it is suggested that you Will Call these at any of our distribution centers. If requiring shipment, all packaging and handling concerns must be agreed to by CRL and the customer prior to shipping. All shipping arrangements will be documented on your quotation for your signed approval.

Product Warning:

1/2" or 5/8" (12 or 16 mm) Thick Glass when using Wet Glaze System. Caution: Low Profile Square Base Shoe cannot be used for the Wedge Dry Glaze System. CRL does not recommend direct powder coating of this base shoe extrusion. Powder coated cladding applied over the base shoe is the recommended method.

All pre-drilled CRL Base Shoes have a +1/8 (3mm)/-1/16 (1.5mm) tolerance between each hole drilled in the base. Before drilling installation holes in the concrete or steel substrate it is recommended that the installer place the base shoe into the planned final position, then mark the position of the holes to be drilled into the substrate.
