Indicative of its continued growth, Sentry Insurance has expanded into an eight-story, 270,000-square-foot office building adjacent to its main headquarters in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Designed by Flad Architects, the new building’s interior articulates the company’s progressive viewpoint on the purpose and character of the workplace.

Themes of interconnectivity and collaboration serve as the foundation of the building experience. Each thoughtfully specified architectural system helps create a dynamic and vibrant working environment where occupant well-being and interaction comes effortlessly.

The first floor introduces a central gathering hub that welcomes visitors and staff with a bright, two-story open lobby space. The second floor houses a large fitness center that includes a locker room, private showers, workout equipment, and yoga room. Together, these elements encourage employees to maintain a healthy and engaged lifestyle throughout the workweek.

Formal office and meeting spaces are found on floors three through six. Because of the company’s wellness and collaboration culture, the design intent for these areas was to create an open and transparent environment with plenty of natural light. Architectural glazing systems played a substantial role in achieving this—chief among them are glass interior office partitions and glass railings from CRL.

Offices and conference rooms are spatially defined using the Clear View Glass Partition System from CRL. As a frameless office partition with slim top and bottom aluminum rails, Clear View produces expansive and uninterrupted floor-to-ceiling glass spans that not only improve transparency and views but also facilitate daylight diffusion from the building’s window wall. All of the Clear View interior partitions in the building are accompanied by all-glass doors featuring DRS Door Rails and stainless steel ladder pulls.

The glazing system motif extends beyond Sentry Insurance offices and conference rooms. GRS Glass Railings from CRL are installed throughout the building including multi-level staircases on each wing and as guardrails where each floor overlooks the central atrium. Transparency and daylighting are again enhanced using the uninterrupted linear glass spans that the GRS Glass Railing System provides. Because the system is ICC-ES approved, it ensures building codes and standards are met. The GRS Glass Railing System features optional HRS Aluminum Handrails for added safety and stability.

Glazing systems play a critical role in establishing Sentry Insurance’s visual brand identity. They allow the building interiors to emit a welcoming, vibrant, and collaborative energy due in large part to the open spaces, uninterrupted views, and abundant daylighting they permit. The result is a meaningful built environment that promotes wellness and a strong workplace community.
