Maintenance Tip #1
This SINGLE, MOST IMPORTANT maintenance task that you can do
yourself will help prevent expensive repairs
Its easy... Just empty the coolant tank TODAY! That’s all there is to it!
Cleaning out the coolant tank once a week will extend diamond wheel life and pump
life. Grinding wheels run freely and produce a better glass edge finish when lubricated
with a clean supply of diamond wheel coolant. When glass grind accumulates in the
recirculation system, the coolant becomes more caustic. This increase in the PH factor is caused by
the limestone used in making the glass. Left unchanged, eventually this concentration
of caustics can lead to early machine, pump, and seal erosion, as well as glass etching,
and mirror backing failures.
Remember that coolant tanks filled with glass grind may be a sign of a busy shop, but
they can also lead to greater equipment repair expenses and customer satisfaction issues.
Schedule a few minutes on a regular basis to clean your machine and tanks, then
refill with a fresh coolant solution.
