FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
C.R. Laurence-U.S. Aluminum to Unveil Industry-First Architectural Glazing Systems at the 2018 AIA Expo in New York City

The Company Will Debut an Innovative Panic Device for Glass Doors and
an Advanced Thermal Storefront and Entrance System

LOS ANGELES, CA – JUNE 7, 2018 – This year, the Javits Center in New York City will host the 2018 AIA Expo from June 21-22. As one of the largest architecture and design events of the year, the trade show is expected to attract thousands of architects, specifiers, and AEC leaders from around the world. C.R. Laurence-U.S. Aluminum—a leading single-source manufacturer and supplier of architectural glazing systems—is proud to be a major exhibitor at the event once again.

C.R. Laurence (Booth 1945, Level 3) will debut multiple new products. Chief among them is the groundbreaking Entice Panic Device by Blumcraft® (a division of CRL). The system features a 2-piece design with an independent, low profile crash bar that’s engineered to easily and securely attach to the vertical panic component. This means that for the first time, architects can specify a back-to-back ladder pull together with a panic device. The Entice Panic can be conveniently mounted onto both monolithic tempered glass and double-glazed insulating glass for a wider range of applications.

Visitors will learn about the innovative Entice® Entrance System—a first-of-its-kind entrance that offers a unique combination of all-glass aesthetics and full-frame thermal performance. The system features ultra-narrow, 1-1/8" vertical door stiles to produce Herculite-style glass spans, while its thermally broken framing and cladding provides U-factors as low as 0.33 to meet energy codes. The Entice® Entrance System also has the distinct ability to support door handle hardware—including panic devices—on 1" insulating glass units using proprietary through-glass fittings.

With energy codes growing increasingly stringent, the company recently introduced its Mojave Advanced Thermal Storefront and Entrance System. Mojave provides enhanced thermal performance, and is engineered for compliance with California Title 24 code requirements using both the prescriptive and performance approaches. Mojave utilizes polyamide struts and advanced internal insulation (AT model) to produce a highly energy-efficient thermal entrance that’s only 1-3/4" thick. This traditional thickness means it’s compatible with a wide range of standard architectural hardware. The company’s booth will feature an interactive thermal simulator that illustrates the thermal performance characteristics of Mojave compared to a traditional aluminum door. It will give attendees a unique experience they can see and feel, providing a highlight at the AIA Expo.

Glass Railing System Also taking center stage in the C.R. Laurence booth is the GRS TAPER-LOC® Glass Railing System. The railing system offers the first and only ICC-ES approved base shoe for glass railings on the market to ensure codes will be met nationwide. It’s also engineered to comply with 2015 IBC updates.

In addition to new product introductions, C.R. Laurence will be presenting an AIA-accredited Continuing Education course on Glass Entrance Systems. The course takes place in CE Theater D, Friday, June 22 at 4 p.m. and qualifies for 1 HSW Learning Unit. It will cover important considerations when designing glass entrances including:

  • Balancing Performance and Aesthetics
  • Understanding GANA Guidelines
  • Hardware Specification and Compatibility
  • Standards for Panic Devices
  • Energy Code Requirements for Exterior Glass Doors

“Manufacturer and architect collaboration is essential to product innovation and project success,” said Lloyd Talbert, President of C.R. Laurence. “AIA Expo serves as an ideal platform for open communication, which helps us engineer new product solutions and address the challenges architects face.”
